Your role at Burke's - Director of After School and Summer Camp Programs
Be the Change Consulting visiting Burke's campus on Thursday, May 19 2022. After School programs from three different schools were in attendance.

Goals & Collaborations:
What were your big takeaways from your workshop or project?
The instructors beautifully explored and modeled how to have "power with" eachother as a team, as a school culture, as opposed to just "power over." It got us thinking about all the ways students may think and feel in a setting they are being welcomed into. The workshop showed and discussed what healthy boundaries look like with students and how to communicate those.
How might this opportunity lead to collaboration with other faculty?
This workshop brought our after school team together to discuss the culture we create together and what we may want to more consciously clarify. This has motivated us to look at our mission statement as a team and how we can start the school year next year.
Would you recommend this opportunity? Why or why not?
Yes! We will definitely do something like this again and it was great to join with other schools too.

I love the model of a school culture where there is power with instead of over others. I'd love to hear more about how the team reconsidered and reflected on the mission statement and ideas for how you'll start the new year. I'm glad you were able to attend as a team and hope it was worthwhile for all.
