I talked with Kelley about 2nd grade nonfiction needs.
I first met with Maria to discuss and update our ideas for the new LS NF (non fiction) collection. We figured out how many bins we could fit and ordered some more bins to test out on the shelves as well. We further worked on our categories based on student interest and books we already had. I also pulled a large selection of books from the US Library that would be appealing to K-4 students. Maria and I figured out what size number labels to order for the books and what size bin labels we would need.
I then met with ocean unit team (Jimmy, Yara, Elizabeth M., Seneca, Anjali, Diana) to brainstorm and begin to flesh out ideas for collaborative first grade project about ocean animals who are harmed by plastic debris.
I met with Kelly Shea to discuss and order new decodable books for classrooms and LS Library. I ordered books for the Library from Flyleaf and Heggerty.
Jenn and I met to discuss technology needs for World Read Aloud Day. We determined that classroom teachers can use the Neatbar. I filled out an event form to make sure everyone from the tech team would be available the day of the event. Jenn and I discussed her coming to a LS division meeting and having everyone create their Zoom links simultaneously with her instructing them.
From the work on Idea Lab day 1 I realized that I collaborated with some unexpected community members and that I also underestimated how long everything would take!
What a busy, exciting, and productive Idea Lab you had! You're such a great resource and I'm glad you were able to collaborate with various faculty members. The integration of the library program with what specialists and classroom teachers are doing is strong and I look forward to the first ever Burke's WRAD!
